Fire Safety Workshop

On Tuesday 8th November Year 2 and Year 5 participated in a fire safety workshop run by the London Fire Brigade.

Kaival, who works for the London Fire Brigade, came in to speak to the children. He was very knowledgeable, answering the children’s questions with sensitivity and patience. The children learnt about the role of the fire brigade, fire hazards and the importance of having smoke alarms fitted in the home. The pupils were shown how to safely exit a building in the event of a fire and given information to share at home about creating a Fire Plan. The children listened well and asked very interesting questions, such as: can sun shining on a piece of glass start a fire? Which they were told that it can; that it why it is very important to put rubbish in the bin, especially in the summer, as this can cause wildfires.
